Better check your customer service...

You know, where I come from, as an old-schooler unfortunately caught up in corporate America, one of the most important things I have learned is that good customer service goes a long way. A really good friend of mine, who happens to be the proprietor of this website, has told me time and time again that he hates motivational posters. So do I kind of, but they used to hang all over the walls at the office building that I work in. Heck, I even have one in my office; it is the one about courage,…See More

GM V6 cooling systems...

Noticing that all-too-familiar growling noise emanating from under the hood of my 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, I had that sneaking suspicion that the factory water pump had finally begun to give up the ghost after 70,000 miles. I guess that I can’t complain. So, off to the auto parts store to get the necessary items, new pump, thermostat, serpentine belt, and two gallons of the tried and true Prestone full strength coolant, just to be sure I had enough. I figured that I should get to it before it…See More

Automotive Trade Shows: SEMA and the like...

Being in the automotive aftermarket for a really, really long time, my company has been exhibiting for the last couple years at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas. After a long week working the booth, I thought I would share a few thoughts. For those that may not be aware, depending on the metrics you are using, i.e., “trade-only”, or any other parameter we can omit here for the sake of argument, generally, the SEMA Show is the second largest Automotive Aftermarket show in the world, second only…See More

Prayer request...

Dear all, if you would kindly offer up a prayer or two for my wife's cousin and his son, who were seriously injured in a motorcycle accident this past Saturday, we would be eternally grateful...

Thankfully, they are not in grave danger, but the young boy (11 years old...) has a lot of road rash, very bad damage to his left foot, much tissue loss, and multiple fractures to his ankle, as he somehow managed to get his foot wedged, or more accurately, wrapped around the driveshaft and…

Helmets...

There seems much to be said about motorcycling and the freedom it allows an individual. There is nothing in the world, and I think we all can agree, that cruising the open road on a nice day, in the wind, there's no better place in the universe, other than Heaven. Probably as close as we can get without breaking the law in some way.

With that, I was wondering if we could talk helmets. This is completely an open topic, all…

IN Member Rescues Bike Accident Victim

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Patchogue, NY--Ignition Nation Member George Davis, was driving his pickup truck on Buckley Road in Patchogue this early Sunday morning. Waiting at the traffic light on Waverly Avenue, he observed a rider on a large sport bike turn the corner at speed. When he heard the bike engine rev higher than it should, he glanced in the rear view mirror, and noticed the rider fail to negotiate the rest of the turn and lose control in a patch of…

Horsepower, from a different angle...

A few days ago, I posted a blog entry about my less than favorable experience in the small town of Springfield, VT. I am done crying about that, and will move on, but I had another revelation while I was on that trip, on the sleigh ride on Taylor Farm, that I mentioned in that post. It's about horsepower and it's early origins.

You know, we all have our own thoughts on horsepower, and one thing is certain, the more you have, the better off you are. Lotsa ponies make you go fast.… Continue

What it took to get an 8th grade education in 1895...

Remember when grandparents and great-grandparents stated that they only had an 8th grade education? Well, check this out. Could any of us have passed the 8th grade in 1895?

This is the eighth-grade final exam from 1895 in Salina , Kansas , USA . It was taken from the original document on file at the Smokey Valley Genealogical Society and Library in Salina , and reprinted by the Salina Journal.

Hey Gil! Great bumping into you this morning at Starbucks! I was hoping you can help out a new site member who is looking for advise on how to get into bikes and what he should get. His name is L M and he is a new member from Georgia.

Give him some advise and take him under your knowledgeable wing!

Thanks

Tom
