Police say they believe the accident Sunday was touched off when the driver of one of the Ferraris tried to change lanes and…

Southern Confidence

President Barack Obama was in the Oval Office when his telephone rang.

"Hello, President Obama" a heavily accented southern voice said. "This is Archie, down here at Joe's Catfish Shack, in Mobile, and I am callin' to tell ya'll that we are officially declaring war on y'all!"

The End of Pontiac....

General Motors is preparing to announce that the Pontiac car brand, once marketed as GM's "Excitement division," will be killed off, according to a source familiar with the decision.

An official announcement is expected Monday. GM spokesman Jim Hopson declined to comment on Pontiac's fate, saying the automaker has no announcements to make at this time.

Transportation secretary says taxing how much we drive may replace gasoline tax

President Obama's new Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is floating the concept of taxing drivers by the mile instead of by the gallon. People who drive more end up paying a larger tax to the feds than people who keep their cars and bikes in the garage. Pilot programs are being set up, and programs are being designed. A North Carolina panel suggested that the state charge a driver a quarter of a penny for each mile driven; that's one cent for four miles, 10¢ for 40 and $1 for 400 miles. Based… Continue

For You Last Minute Christmas Shoppers...

Accessories don't come cheap in new cars. Some auto dealers nick you $750 for satellite radio. You can tune in the same music for $50-$100 with an add-on receiver from Sirius or XM. On the one hand, convenience, a high price tag, and it's part of the monthly payment; on the other, affordability, clutter and extra wires in the cockpit, and possibly mixed audio quality.

Oftentimes the decision between built-in and add-on accessories is murky at best. So, in general, which way should… Continue

Hi Les! Thank you for the warm welcome. Fantastic idea, ignition nation, I am looking forward to being involved in this. I am familiar with Southside, and your right, lots of good people over there. Like most other bike enthusiasts in the area, my wife and I spend our fair share of time at J.R.'s place next door. Thanks again!
