Today’s women riders put on their motorcycle jackets and make up one third of the riding population.
Back in 1912 Dorothy (Dot) Robinson’s mother rode in the side car of her father’s motorcycle to get to the hospital when she was in labour with Dot. It only makes sense Dot loved to ride, married a rider, and both continued to ride for decades. It was Dot who started the women’s riding organization Motor Maids in 1941.
Dot began wearing her trademark pink riding outfits (1950’s), after movies of the day portrayed black-leather-clad motorcyclists as outlaws.
Today, women wear pink for a different reason – their commitment to raising awareness for Breast Cancer Research. In particular, WWR (Women Who Ride) Conga Breast Cancer Ride. “Go with Flo”
The Conga originated back in 2008 when a woman nicknamed ‘Flo’ bought a motorcycle from Ride Like a Pro in Hudson, Florida. She knew that after picking up her bike it would be a very long ride back. Flo decided to contact her internet friends to ride along with her. And many escorted her some 6000 miles across the continent, dancing her safely home. Hence the name Conga like the dance.
Since then WWR have raised thousands of dollars.
2009 $12,000 - 2010 $36,600 - 2011 July 14-17, 2011

Belt Drive Betty from the Busted Knuckle Chronicles says,
"This is a book that captures the very essence of life. It may be a work of erotic fiction but my word – what a ride, a true journey through life.
Elle paints a story that makes you feel every drop of rain or sunshine, every moment of terror and exquisite passion. The book is filled with a lust for life, freedom, peace and immense, no...enormous love."
